Amelia Merrill is a theatre artist and writer from Baltimore, Maryland. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude and minored in Film and Media Studies and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Upon her graduation in 2019, Amelia was awarded the Gould Memorial Drama prize and the Agnes Sterrett Woods prize for the best English department paper by a woman-identifying student. Through a research grant at her college, she worked as the assistant to the Executive Artistic Director at Pendragon Theatre for two years. Her specialities include dramaturgy and new play development, film criticism, and exploring the intersections of gender and theatre. She loves to direct works by women and under-represented theatre artists. She developed an original work, Dear Kitty: A Travesty, in culmination of her undergraduate theatre and writing studies. After graduating, Amelia served as an editorial intern at American Theatre magazine, and frequently writes about theatre, film, television, and women in media for various publications. She also worked as a literary intern at the theatre agency Bret Adams Ltd., and as an editorial intern at Narratively.
